BULGARIANS AMONG MOST HARD-WORKING EU CITIZENS
Citizens of the “new” EU member states worked harder than those of the “older” countries in the union, according to research by th European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions.
Citizens of the 12 countries that joined the EU from May 2004 onwards worked an average of 2.5 weeks more than the “older” EU citizens, the results showed, as quoted by netinfo.bg.
Estonians, Lithuanians, Hungarians, Polish and Romanians worked the most, while the French, Swedish, Danish and Germans worked the least.
Bulgarians worked an average of 1808 hours a year, compared the French average of 1568 hours spent at work in a year.
The working week in Bulgaria averaged 41 hours, the report said. The Latvian work week was the longest, at 42.1 hours, while in France people worked 37.6 hours a week.
