Bulgaria’s 'becoming a popular place to retire'
Bulgaria is becoming a popular destination for retirees, according to one overseas property expert.
The former Communist country will become a mainstream retirement destination over the next ten years, said Paul Collins, managing director of overseas property advice portal, BuyAssociation.
Improved travel links and a developing healthcare service are two factors that will boost interest in Bulgarian property, he maintained.
Retirees are viewing homes in Bulgaria as a "viable option", with more expected to do so as the emerging market continues to grow, Mr Collins added.
"It may be another five or ten years before we see it as a really serious retirement destination - but it's something that's out there and people are thinking about it," he concluded.
Situated on the coast of the Black Sea in south-east Europe, Bulgaria joined the EU in January 2007, alongside Romania, prompting several property experts to champion the country as the next overseas investment hotspot.
