Bulgaria - One of World's Most Aging Nations
Bulgaria is among the most aging nations in the world, says an annual report of the World Bank.
Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union are the most aging regions in the world.
In 2025, more than 20% of the Bulgarians will be older than 65 years. Easter Europe's population will decrease in the next 20 years with almost 24 million people, foresees the report.
The most aging nation in Western Europe, in year 2050 will be Spain, followed by Italy and Austria.
The analysis concludes that the process of aging passes in conditions of unprecedented low institutional development in the region.
These countries could avoid the sharp economy consequences by accelerating its economy transition and launch reforms in pension and health systems.
