Bulgaria Marks 82 Years since Gravest Terror Act
Bulgaria commemorates on 16 April 82 years since the heaviest act of terrorism committed on its territory, when 213 people were killed and another 500 injured.
The assault was carried out on 16 April 1925, when a group of the Bulgarian Communist Party (BCP) blew up the roof of the St Nedelya Church in the capital Sofia.
This occurred during the funeral service of General Konstantin Georgiev, who was killed in another Communist assault on 14 April.
It was pure luck that none of the members of the government were killed in the attack.
Tsar Boris III was not in the church as he was attending a funeral service of the victims in an assassination attempt on his life two days earlier.
