Bulgaria Ranks 51st in International Property Rights Index
Bulgaria ranks 51st among 70 Countries in the International Property Rights Index, which was presented on Monday.
The country shares the place with Argentina, Egypt and Tanzania. Bulgaria scored a 3.8 pints result and remains at the bottom of the third out of four groups on rights protection and property.
East European countries performed too badly, not justifying expert's expectations.
The country that performed best is Norway, followed by the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden New Zealand, the UK, Germany, Australia, Switzerland and Austria.
Russia came as a surprise to the experts as the state fell to 63rd place out of 70. The other surprise was China, which leapfrogged Russia and reached place 45.
The 2007 International Property Rights Index (IPRI) is the first international comparative study that measures the significance of both physical and intellectual property rights and their protection for economic well-being.
In order to incorporate and grasp the important aspects related to property rights protection, the Index focuses on three areas: Legal and Political Environment (LP), Physical Property Rights (PPR), and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). The current study analyses data for seventy countries around the globe, representing ninety-five percent of world GDP. Of great importance, the 2007 gauge incorporates data of PR protection from various sources, often directly obtained from expert surveys within the evaluated countries.
