Bulgaria Takes Up SEECP Presidency
Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin is to travel to the Croatian capital Zagreb where Bulgaria will take up the leadership of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP).
The SEECP was launched at Bulgaria’s initiative in 1996. The main purpose of SEECP is to create an atmosphere of trust, good neighbourly relations and stability among the organisation’s member countries.
The 10th summit of the SEECP member states’ heads will take place on May 11, Bulgarian National Radio reported.
Before the start of the forum, SEECP foreign ministers will meet on May 10.
German chancellor Angela Merkel, European Commission (EU) President Jose Barroso and European Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn will be among those taking part in the summit.
The states and governments’ heads will approve two documents, including a declaration entitled New South Eastern Europe and the Zagreb document for increasing the process of co-operation in Southeastern Europe.
