Bulgaria is Paradise for Unemployed Westerners

The unemployed westerners live like kings in Bulgaria. It is enough for them to register at a Bulgarian Bureau of labour in order to secure for themselves at least 500 EUR, informs Standart newspaper.

Michael Vitver is already using this opportunity. He is living with his Bulgarian girlfriend in a village near the town of Vratza. The ambitious girl has succeeded in proving that her boyfriend has the right to get unemployment compensation in Bulgaria as well. Thus for three months Michael will get 570EUR from the Bulgarian National insurance institute. Later, Germany will reimburse Bulgaria.

If I was in my country, I would have taken this money for the whole year but anyway I don't regret, says the foreigner who is already in love not only with his girlfriend but also in Bulgaria.

We don't know of other such case, claimed from the Employment Agency. After Bulgaria's accession to the EU, the foreigners from every EU member state can get an unemployment compensation in Bulgaria.
