Carlsberg to invest 20 mln levs in Shumen brewery
Carlsberg will invest in the next 3 years over 20 mln levs in Shumensko Pivo, one of the two brewery the Danish company operates in Bulgaria, said Alexander Grancharov, executive director of Carlsberg Bulgaria.
The resource will be spend on new equipment, renovation of production premises and the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant. The plant should be operational by the end of 2008.
Over the past 3 years, Carlsberg has boosted the output capacity of the Shumensko Pivo brewery and mounted a solid 17 mln lev marketing campaign for the brand, resulting in a fivefold market share increase.
It's become the nation's fastest-growing beer brand, said Grancharov.
Shumensko Pivo posted a 40% year-on-year sales gain in January-May.
The Danish parent company, which also owns local brewery Pirinsko Pivo, has spent over 50 mln levs on production equipment and contemporary technological solutions for the Shumen brewery since 2003, said Grancharov.
At the moment, Shumensko Pivo produces 45,000 beers in glass containers and 8,000 beers in PET bottles per hour.
In addition to the Shumensko Pivo brand, the Shumen factory also produces Holsten and Tuborg beer.
