EU Citizens Could Apply for Bulgarian Municipal Councillors
Foreigners, citizens of EU member-countries could apply for municipal concillor positions in Bulgaria, decided Bulgaria's Parliament today, after passing the changes in the Local Elections' bill.
The EU candidates should present a certificate for permanent of continuing stay in Bulgaria. Only Bulgarian citizens could apply for mayors.
The law foresees that foreigners could also vote in the local elections if they are preliminary filed in a petition.
Bulgarian citizens or EU member's citizens (that had lived in the country in the last three months) can vote for mayors and municipal concillors.
