Guardian: Bulgarian Nurses Could Go Home by End-July
Hopes are rising that five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor sentenced to death in Libya for allegedly infecting children with the HIV will be released within weeks, the Guardian wrote a day after the Supreme Court delayed its ruling on the medics' final appeal for July 11.
The article forecasts that in the best case the nurses could be going home by the end of July.
"The expectation now is that the death sentences will be confirmed but that the six will then quickly be granted clemency by Libya's higher judicial council, or see their sentences commuted to the prison terms they have already served."
The Guardian described Tuesday's session as businesslike and less confrontational than previous occasions, even though families of the victims protested outside, holding pictures of their infected children.
