HEAVY CONSTRUCTION, SOME OF WHICH ILLEGAL, ONGOING IN BULGARIA’S BANSKO RESORT
One of the most often seen vehicles in Bulgaria’s Bansko winter resort is a heavy-loaded truck, Capital weekly reported.
Bansko mayor Alexander Kravarov told Capital several months ago that none of the constructions were illegal. Soon after, the Supreme Administrative Prosecution ordered inspection of all projects.
Results presented three months later revealed that inspectors found irregularities in nearly half of the constructions.
The inspection focused on 400 projects, started since 2004. Prosecution already issued two orders for construction demolition and eight for halt of work.
According to inspectors, Bansko chief architect Vilhemina Sandeva was responsible for the majority of the violations. Sandeva issued construction permits in contradiction to laws. At the same time some regulations are vague.
Prosecution officials said that all projects will be examined by the end of the summer.
