New Owner Of Infrastructure In Bulgaria’s Vitosha Promises Renovations
Vitosha Ski is the new owner of the lifts in Vitosha Mountain. The value of the deal is 3.35 million euro.
According to Capital daily, the company has acquired most of the lifts and will continue purchasing infrastructure and facilities in the mountain.
Despite its proximity to Sofia, Vitosha remain underdeveloped as winter sports destination. After facilities in the mountain were privatised, they changed ownership several times. Investment in innovations, however, remained minimal.
Representatives of the new owner said that the situation was about to change. But before innovations become fact, the company needs to acquire most of the infrastructure in order to launch overall renovation.
The company will try to acquire three separate lifts and provide new equipment for them, Capital reported. All of the lifts are old, one celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2007.
According to parliamentary regulations new construction will not be allowed in Vitosha, which is declared a national park.
Yet, the renovation of the lifts alone will cost as much as 15 million euro, Vitosha Ski representatives said.
Slight lift location changes and the setting up of new ski tracks also feature among the future plans, Capital reported.
