Sofia's Top Centre Ariana Lake Back in Function

Sofia Mayor Boiko Borisov opened officially the reconstructed lake ‘Ariana' situated in the centre of the capital, right next to Orlov most (Eagle's bridge).

Borisov turned the tap and the water filling of the lake started. Bulgaria's President Georgy Purvanov also attended the opening.

‘Ariana' will be filled in 14 days with 65,000 cubic meters of water.

From March to December there will be boats and water wheels, while in winter time the lake will be used as skating-ring.

This is the first step of the opening of ‘Orlov most' complex (Eagle's bridge complex), treating the lake and the surroundings.

The second stage includes constructions of restaurant, cafй, day bar and open-air kindergarten, next to Ariana, that will be opened in the next month.

Round 2 million BGN (1 million EUR) were needed for the restore of the lake. Money was gathered by private investors.
