Guaranteed snow cover and optimum snow conditions are the main keys to success for winter resorts.

Therefore Bansko (small town south west of Sofia, BG) invested in a high-tech TechnoAlpin snowmaking system in 2003. Thanks to guaranteed snow cover and high quality snow, Bansko was chosen as FIS European Cup venue after only three seasons and has again be selected to host the event in the coming winter season.

This year Bulgaria’s first fully automatic snowmaking system sees its fourth extension. A new ski trail section is built and 20 M18 tower-mounted fan guns and 30 A9V air-water sticks with central compressor station are installed. Furthermore the two existent pumping stations are extended and snow guns are added.

After Bansko the Borovets skiing area (BG) now also places its trust in a modern TechnoAlpin snowmaking system. The long-established winter resort situated app. 70 km from Sofia at the foot of the Mousala Mountain invests in a TechnoAlpin-snowmaking project with four stages of expansion.

In 2007 earthworks for the construction of a pumping station start on the Yastrebez trail: concrete works are carried out, a pond with a reserve capacity of 17,000 m³ is built and snowmaking lines are laid. The main pumping station will have a total throughput of 230 l/s (3,200 kW).
