Tourist Visits To Bulgaria’s Bansko Satisfactory Despite Snowless Season

Data concerning visitor figures during winter season 2006-2007 are still unavailable but the season was satisfactory, mayor of Bansko winter resort Alexander Kravarov said.

The season was not as good as the previous one but Bansko has artificial snow machines, which improved skiing conditions there, Kravarov said.

Overall attitude in Europe that resorts lack snow brought the number of visits down, Kravarov said as quoted by Focus news agency.

Ski facilities worked until the final possible moment but will now be stopped, Kravarov said. Bansko is to start preparing for the coming winter season.

During summer 2007 Bansko will host a number of traditional events. A folklore festival is scheduled for May. The Bansko Jazz Fest starts in August.
